Celebrating a Record-Breaking Year

As we look forward to 2026, we’re taking a moment to celebrate the incredible impact our community made this past year. Between November 2024 and September 2025, the Safer Students program reached new heights:

  • 5,800+ Students Reached: Thousands of young Floridians gained essential knowledge on how to navigate our roads safely.

  • 82 Schools Engaged: We saw interest from every corner of the state, from the Panhandle to the Keys.

  • $8,785 in Grants Distributed: 24 schools received funding to support their educational initiatives.

  • High School Focus: This past cycle prioritized older students, with 14 high schools and 10 elementary schools successfully completing the program.

Why It Matters

The Safer Students program isn't just a quiz; it’s a proactive solution to a real-world problem. By using the Florida Bike Safety Quiz—a free, 30-minute interactive lesson—schools help bridge the gap between motorists and bicyclists.

Whether it's a high schooler preparing for their driver’s license or an elementary student biking to class, these lessons provide the "rules of the road" that save lives. As FBA super-volunteer Ed Barsotti puts it, "The quiz helps fill a big educational gap for motorists and bicyclists alike."

What Our Teachers Are Saying

The feedback from the front lines has been inspiring:

"I took the quiz and I thought it was great to teach awareness to both motorists and cyclists." — Mrs. Lucy Walker, Pineapple Cove Classical Academy

"Thank you for getting us involved in this! It was very informative and beneficial for my classes." — Mr. Mark Coleman, Key West High School

Join Us for 2026

This program is made possible through our vital partnerships with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and Orlando Health. Together, we are building a Florida where every student can walk, bike, and drive with confidence.

Don't wait—help us make 2026 our safest year yet.
