Florida Bicycle’s Position on E-Bikes

The Florida Bicycle Association supports the lawful use of legal e-bikes that comply with applicable regulations, including state statutes and local speed limits. Read why in the Spring 2023 Messenger (excerpt below). However, where concerns exist about e-bikes making nonmotorized trails uncomfortable or unsafe for other users, they must be addressed. In addition to urging all cyclists to ride safely and encouraging state and local agencies to enforce safe speed limits, Florida Bicycle is actively researching—and will promote—best practices and model policies to ensure all cyclists can safely get where they want or need to go. As solutions are developed and implemented, Florida Bicycle will share them broadly.
