Our health bills now are outrageous and lack of exercise is a huge reason. Our yearly bill to the oil importing countries is abysmal. To say these walking and bike trails are not in the national interest borders on lunacy. Not only keep but expanding the funding. He was here in Davis, California for a number of years, and did a great job helping start to 'turn us around' (once the self-proclaimed "bicycle capitol of the US", bike use in Davis had slipped significantly but is now back on the rise). He's a committed cyclist, a good friend, and great at reaching out to a wide variety of people in the community -- his soft-spoken style is effective in getting them to listen, understand & work together.
