Governor Crist has received over 1750 calls and emails in opposition to HB 971. We are doing a great job of making our voices heard but we must do better. We have only 10 days left to make our voices heard loud and clear to Governor Crist that he must veto HB 971. HB 971 is a special interest bill that seeks to take advantage of and trample on the average person. Governor Crist repeatedly says he is the “People’s Governor.” Well, this is his chance to prove it. And let’s hold him accountable if he doesn’t.

Excellent!

Florida cyclists: If you don’t have time to compose your own email, this site can help:

You can also copy/paste the text from the site into your email to Crist.

A MS Word .doc flier can be downloaded off that site as well – ask all your local bike shops to put it up. DO IT NOW!

I would like to address all riders reading: If you live in Florida, and consider yourself an advocate, you must call or email. Its disgraceful that over a month’s worth of getting the word out has yielded under 2,000 complaints from riders over the entire state of Florida. This is one of the most important issues to hit Florida cycling in a long time – it is time to be the advocate that you say you are.

Mind you, if this bill passes as a result of failing to reach the 2,500 mark, there isn’t a Florida “advocate” out there that shouldn’t be flat-out ashamed of him or herself, if they didn’t write or call in.
